Do you have fat accumulation in specific areas that are difficult to lose, even though your weight is within the normal range for your height? If you want to lose fat in a targeted area without invasive surgery or extensive downtime, you may be a good candidate for laser liposuction. Our board certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Ali Charafeddine, offers laser liposuction for body sculpting at our clinic in Miami.
How Does Laser Liposuction Work?
Laser liposuction uses heat energy to liquify and destroy fat cells under the skin. In most cases, only local anesthetic is used to perform this procedure, so the patient is awake during the treatment. A tiny incision is made near the targeted area, and a laser probe is inserted under the skin. The laser energy is used to impact the specific fat deposits then the liquified fat is suctioned out from under the skin.
Unlike surgical liposuction, laser liposuction has minimal downtime and recovery. While Dr. Charafeddine may recommend that you rest and take it easy for a day or two after your procedure, there is no major downtime needed. The incision is very small, and there is usually not a visible scar once it has healed.
Laser liposuction results are almost immediate. There will be a noticeable shrinking in the treated area, even though there is some swelling that can be expected. Over the following days and weeks, the area will become more reduced as the swelling dissipates, and the skin constricts to the new smaller shape.
If you have heavier upper arms, saddlebags on your thighs or a roll around your middle, you can shrink and reshape your body with liposuction. Eden Plastic Surgery Institute in Miami offers laser liposuction, a minimally-invasive option for liposculpture.
