The neck is a common area that shows your age. The skin can become loose and muscle bands within the neck can become pronounced, resulting in lines, sagging tissue and even the dreaded “turkey waddle.” While a facelift can address the jowls and jawline, it does not lift and tighten the entire neck area. At Eden Plastic Surgery Institute, we offer neck lift surgery to restore a firmer, more youthful neck line at our clinic in Miami.

The neck is often a neglected area compared to the face, but it is also prone to aging skin and sagging tissue. It is common to see men and women who have necks that look years older than their face with lines, wrinkles and sagging tissue. Instead of trying to hide your neck under scarves or clothing, consider the benefits of neck lift surgery to restore a more youthful-appearing neck.

What is a Lower Rhytidectomy?

A rhytidectomy is a facelift, which removes excess skin and elevates the tissue in the jowls and lower face. While this can tighten some of the upper neck, it will not remove all the sagging skin and tissue. A lower rhytidectomy, or neck lift, is used to remove the excess skin and tissue from the neck. If there is excess fat under the chin, liposuction can be used in conjunction with the neck lift. In some cases, the tendons and muscles in the neck may need to be tightened, a procedure called a platysmaplasty. This can slim, smooth and reshape the neck to create a more youthful appearance.

A neck lift surgery can make a dramatic difference in the appearance of the neck. If you are unhappy with the sagging or drooping tissue on your neck or you have the beginnings of a turkey waddle, a lower rhytidectomy may be right for you.
